Technology moves fast, and no family should have to figure it out alone. Make Great Plays, together with CVUSD and school partners, offers bilingual (English and Spanish) digital and AI literacy sessions for parents and students in our local immigrant and low-income communities.
Who it’s for. Parents, caregivers and students. No experience needed, and no question is too basic.
What we cover. Each session focuses on one topic, such as staying safe online, understanding AI tools like chatbots, using everyday tools like Google Workspace for your job, helping your child use technology for school, or spotting scams.
How it works. Sessions are free to attend and run about 60 to 90 minutes. They are led in English and Spanish by student-athlete volunteers and community partners. You can ask questions as we go, and you’ll leave knowing more about technology and the opportunities it can open up for your family.
Where and when. Sessions are held monthly at community locations, usually schools, public parks and libraries. The date and place change each month, and we notify families on our list. Tell us you’re interested and we’ll let you know when a session is near you.
Why we started. In 2024, we ran a Spanish-language survey of 300+ parents at six Title 1 schools, and 65% cited technology knowledge gaps. We launched these sessions in early 2025, and since then we have delivered 50+ sessions to 800+ parent and student attendees.
