Meet The Team
Closing the digital divide for an inclusive future for all
I'm Dhuruv, Founder and President of Make Great Plays. I'm all about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities. My mom's journey is a big part of why I'm doing this - she overcame incredible challenges and used tech to build a better life for our family. It's what drives me to bring digital literacy and AI awareness to underserved communities.Every time I meet students and parents at our events, I'm blown away by their stories. It's a two-way street - I'm learning just as much as they're learning. Make Great Plays is more than just an org; it's a movement. I'm stoked about our grassroots team - they're open-minded, caring, and all about making a difference in our community.I'm super passionate about baseball - I'm a two-way player on my high school team, and I pour my heart into every game. I love the strategy, the teamwork, and the thrill of competition. It's more than just a sport - it's a way to build discipline, perseverance, and community. As I always say, "When life gives you bad hops, make great plays." That's what drives me to make a difference, both on and off the field.I'm deeply committed to environmental stewardship, and I'm working on a bee conservation project (those little guys are crucial to our ecosystem!). My little bro loves helping me out - and we have epic wiffle ball battles. Let's do this, together!

I'm Dylan Hawley, Vice President of Make Great Plays. I'm all about building inclusive communities and exploring connections between diverse groups. Baseball's my thing - I'm an aspiring pitcher, and I love the teamwork and discipline it brings. I'm also a huge football fan. When Dhuruv asked me to join Make Great Plays, I was all in. I admire his work ethic, honesty, and kindness, and I knew we'd make a killer team. Our grassroots movement is all about creating opportunities for underrepresented communities, and it's been an incredible journey so far.Every day, we meet amazing people with inspiring stories. It's humbling, and it motivates me to do more. I'm thrilled to be part of this movement, and I'm excited to see what the future holds. Let's do this!

I'm Nixon Cortell, Secretary of Make Great Plays. I'm passionate about creating opportunities and supporting communities. When the club was initiated at the school, I was excited to contribute my skills and experience. As a detail-oriented person, I love helping keep things organized and on track. I'm also a history buff - there's something about understanding the past that helps me appreciate the present. I'm impressed by the impact Make Great Plays is having in our community, and I'm honored to be part of it. Being part of the MGP team has been a great experience. We're making a difference, one step at a time.

Mateo is deeply interested in technology and its growing role in shaping the modern world. While he recognizes the immense potential of technological and AI advancements to improve lives, he is also mindful of their possible downsides and the inequalities they can create. Having family in regions of the world that lack access to the same level of technological development, Mateo is motivated to help bring that sophistication and opportunity to everyone, not just those in privileged areas. Through this project, he hopes to raise awareness and promote more equitable access to technology, working toward a future where innovation benefits communities globally and helps close existing gaps rather than widen them.
Outside of his involvement in this initiative, Mateo enjoys playing soccer and exploring philosophy, interests that reflect his leadership, confidence, and dedication. Soccer has taught him teamwork and perseverance, while philosophy encourages him to think critically about the world and his role within it. Together, these passions shape his perspective and strengthen his commitment to using technology responsibly and thoughtfully for the greater good. He also loves to spend time with family and friends, enjoying a good movie or sports game.
