Students Building Bridges to a More United World
Empowering young leaders to champion inclusion, unity, and compassion - helping them Beat the Odds by building real-world connections
Vision
Mission
The Bridge Builder Badge Initiative recognizes and empowers students who bridge divides, foster belonging, and uplift others - by connecting people, resources, and opportunities - helping them Beat the Odds, building bridges to a more united world.
The Bridge Builder Movement - What We Do
Build Bridges, Not Barriers
In a time marked by division, fear, and widening social gaps, we at Make Great Plays are choosing a different path: building bridges. Our initiative is inspired by concerns about the exclusion of immigrant communities, the growing digital divide, and the impact of social polarization on young people.
Our Bridge Builder Badge Initiative is a digital recognition program honoring students who promote inclusion, unity, resilience, and compassion — particularly within immigrant communities.
Monthly Recognition Program: Our initiative awards digital badges to students who demonstrate leadership in five key categories.
Five badge categories, each symbolizing a unique strength:
🧡 Inclusion Hero: For acts of kindness and acceptance that bring people together.
💫 Unity Champion: For promoting teamwork, equality, and inclusivity.
🌍 Global Ambassador: For demonstrating global awareness and cross-cultural understanding.
🌈 Hope Maker: For inspiring positivity and courage in others.
🏅 Path Finder: For outstanding academic or athletic achievements despite challenges.
550+ badges awarded | expanding access to opportunity
5 strategic partnerships with youth orgs | Amplifying our impact
12 schools impacted | Growing a movement
Nominate Now- Students may be nominated by peers, educators, or community members — or self-nominate — and are selected by a student review committee. For local schools, we attend assemblies to recognize the students.
Beyond recognition, the program aims to spark a grassroots movement by encouraging students to actively build inclusive school communities. Participants who earn multiple badges may qualify for special recognition events and awards.
The Bridge Builder Badge Initiative is currently expanding across local schools in Los Angeles and Ventura County, with plans to grow nationally and internationally.

Impact Stories
Bridge Builders are everyday heroes making a difference in their schools and communities.
See how our Bridge Builders are changing lives:
Featured Story:
Sofía, 11, navigated a tough landscape. At home, her family's financial struggles were a constant hum – her parents worked multiple jobs just to keep a roof over their heads. The immigrant crisis had left them anxious, always looking over their shoulders.
School wasn't much better – she struggled to keep up in English-only classes, feeling like she was stuck between two worlds. Lunchtime was tough; she'd sit at an empty table, her sandwich and juice box untouched, feeling like she was invisible – like she didn't belong.
But everything shifted when Ms. Briggs asked for help translating for Carlos, a newcomer from Guatemala. Sofía hesitated, worried she'd mess up, but something clicked. As she helped Carlos, she found a new purpose. Her empathy and smile bridged gaps, earning her the nickname "La Traductora."
When a family from Somalia arrived, speaking Somali, Sofía didn't know the language, but she rallied her school. Together, they created a welcome video in Somali, Spanish, and English, making the family feel seen.
Principal Lewis praised Sofía: "Her compassion and initiative have transformed our school into a haven for immigrant students and families."
Sofía's story inspires: "I found my voice by helping others find theirs."
